Brewing Kombucha Tea Help

1. I've never brewed kombucha tea before. Help?

Brewing kombucha is an incredibly simple process and you don't have to worry. With all of our kits, we provide you all the equipment you need to brew, a detailed instruction guide, and recipe card.

2. Why should I brew my own kombucha?

There's something just so awesome about getting your hands dirty in the kitchen and doing it yourself. In addition to doing it yourself, you are saving $$ each month. A bottle of kombucha at the grocery store costs $3-5 for 16 oz. If you have a bottle each day, spending $100+ on kombucha tea a month adds up. Instead, getting a homebrew set and brewing your own kombucha continuously will save you tons of money, allowing you to save more and live your life the way you want to.

3. My SCOBY has black spots. Should I continue to use it?

If your SCOBY has black spots, it is moldy. Consult Google and other sources on the internet to determine whether or not it is safe to use, or feel free to send a question over to us at diykombuchakit@gmail.com.

4. I left my SCOBY outside of my refrigerator for a week. Is it still okay to brew with?

As long as there are no black spots and mold on your SCOBY, it should be fine to brew with. When you ultimately brew kombucha, the SCOBY is exposed to temperatures around 70 degrees and as bacteria, actually grows quite a bit at this temperature! Of course, consult Google and other sources on the internet to determine whether or not it is safe to use, or feel free to send a picture over to us at diykombuchakit@gmail.com.

5. My SCOBY is sick and I need a new one.

4. If I'm not at my house when the shipment comes, will my ingredient be spoiled?

No, the ingredients are dry and packaged to protect from humidity and moisture. For the SCOBY, it is a living organism, and while should not be exposured to extreme temperatures, will still be alive if exposed to less than optimal temperatures.
